Planning Study, Fregon School, APY Lands, SA, 2014
The South Australian Government commissioned Troppo Architects to provide a planning study (Masterplan) for the Fregon Kaltjiti Anangu School in the APY Lands in the far north west of South Australia. The school currently consists of a piecemeal collection of transportable buildings for the 1970s, 80s & 90s which are mostly at the end of their serviceable life. Many of the buildings do not comply with current Education Department standards or Building Code of Australia standards.
The planning study involved consultation with the school users and Education Department representatives, on site & in the region. The Planning study identified the strengths & weaknesses of the current school assets & provided a staged vision for the future revolving around the existing basketball court which lies in the heart of the school.
