NATURE FESTIVAL HUB HARD TENT TROP_PODS
Troppo Architects are excited to be involved in the creation of the Nature Festival Hub – 2021. Located on the forecourt of the South Australian Museum (SAM) North Tce Adelaide, for the duration of the Nature Festival 25 Sept 25 – 4 Oct, the Hub provides a central focus for the 250+ activities scheduled across South Australia.
The pair of Hard Tent Trop-pods were adopted to provide modest scale modular pods that could be landed on the grassed forecourt with minimal disturbance and repurposed for future events.
The simple form and volume of the pods are permeable and open up to the outdoor environment as educational and informative shelters. Linked by a central stage their space is fused with the outdoors and sit adjacent the main pedestrian access to the SAM and open out to the grassed forecourt for greater gatherings.
In responding to concerns of the current climate and biodiversity emergency and the construction sectors responsibility for 40% of carbon emissions in construction and operations, Troppo ensured all materials used where either recycled, or where new had a minimal carbon footprint.
The threat to the climate and biodiversity of the planet and its health are at a tipping point. Troppo were grateful to be able to assist the Nature Festival in its profile and to encourage the community to acknowledge, experience and participate in the essential protection of Nature.
Many thanks to our band of Merry Helpers from Troppo, Nature Festival and far and wide
